Tiny, blue flowers are aggregated in several balls along the stems of this annual. Bloom time is usually March-July and it attracts pollinators. The seeds are edible and indigenous groups would eat the seeds as a grain or soak the seeds overnight. Prefers sandy, well drained soil but tolerates clay.
